Whether I’m picking you up from Brighton, Hove, Lewes, Shoreham or Burgess Hill I usually pick up pupils 1 hour and 30 minutes before their test start time. This gives us an opportunity to recap all the manovors, show me tell me questions and answer any last minute questions you might have. Everything will be fresh in your mind before the test.
We will arrive at the chosen driving test centre (Burgess Hill, Eastbourne or Worthing) roughly 15 minutes before your test start time. All driving test centres have toilet facilities. The Burgess Hill driving test centre has a vending machine should you need a cup to tea to steady the nerves. We’ll wait in the driving test centre waiting room until the examiner calls you. He/She will ask you to confirm the details on your driving licence are correct, check your ID and ask you to sign your driving test paper for insurance purposes. Your driving examiner will then ask you if you would like your instructor to accompany you on your test he/she will also ask you if you would like you instructor to be present when the driving test has ended, you can call your instructor over if they didn’t go with you on your test. This is so they can listen to the result and feedback with you. The examiner will tell you whether you passed or failed and will explain how you did during the test.
Before entering the car your examiner will ask you to read the number plate on a stationary vehicle. The distance requirement for the eyesight test using old style number plates is 20.5 metres or 20 metres if the new-style number plate is used. After this you’ll be asked 2 “Show me Tell me” questions. Once these have been completed, your practical driving test will commence. It will last for 40 minutes and end once your back at the driving test centre.
